Manifestations, 8 x 10. Text on vellum + cyanotype prints on paper, 2026.

ARTIST STATEMENT

I've been interested in cyanotype printing for a while now, especially in how photographic processes hold an assumption of truth/reality, but these prints can be made up of drawings, collages, poetry, and fiction, all of which are inherently inconsistent or non-real. Taking these made up pieces and putting them together in a photographic way gives them a kind of authority.

Over the past few months, I've been spending a lot of time thinking about what I want. I've gone through old sketchbooks, writing, and drawings, and have noticed that ultimately, the desires for time, connection, and creative fulfillment have been present in my art making.

I am honoring and finalizing these recurring and often cyclical wishes with physical manifestations, using each piece of writing as a catalyst for a cyanotype print. This photographic process turns thoughts and ideas into objects that are tangible and real. Still, I think the underlying knowledge that these aren't truly photographs remains, and I'm interested in this space where assumed truths and obvious fictions are at odds with one another, and where far-out dreams and faith are met with a little bit of skepticism.
